The Salvation Army was founded in London, England, in 1865 by William Booth. It is now an international organization with divisions in 107 countries throughout the world. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Doing the Most Good
“…there is no reward equal to that of doing the most good to the most people in the most need.”
-- Evangeline Booth, former commander of the U.S. Salvation Army and former general of the worldwide Salvation Army.

Camp Mission Statement:
“Long Point Camp exists to be a place where youth may capture the joy of living-loving-and-learning more about their God, themselves, and others.”

We fulfill our mission by presenting a high quality program that provides each camper opportunities to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and educationally. Here are a few examples of how our programs offer opportunities for growth in these areas:

SPIRITUALLY - through cabin and camp-wide devotions, mealtime prayers, Lord’s Day Worship, and individual counseling with Christian Staff.

PHYSICALLY - through a well-rounded, structured program of camp activities, balanced nutrition, and health care.

EMOTIONALLY - through activities that promote self-esteem, teamwork, and healthy peer relationships.

SOCIALLY - through community living, cooperative group interaction, and positive role models.

EDUCATIONALLY - through program areas that develop new skills, ex: outdoor living, arts & crafts, recreation, boating, swimming, and nature
